Summer School Blessings for Chaplain Interns!

Pastor Paul Steinberg with the center for Urban teaching Leaders at their end of summer school celebration.

As the new school year begins, a familiar question will echo through classrooms and hallways: “What did you do this summer?” For A City for God’s Chaplain Interns, the answer is nothing short of inspiring.

This summer, A City for God’s dedicated interns shared God’s word with over 200 students each day, wrote and delivered 19 school devotions, and connected with hundreds of individuals. Through their experiences, they deepened their faith, honed their ministry skills, and strengthened their desire to serve in ministry.

A Diverse Group United by Faith

A City for God’s Chaplain Interns ranged in age from 19 to 53, bringing unique perspectives from various stages of life. Some were college students training for ministry, while others were seasoned professionals exploring a potential calling to full-time ministry. Regardless of their background, every intern grew in their faith and ministry readiness, better prepared for whatever God has planned for them.

We pray that some of these interns will one day join our staff and continue helping us build communities for Christ in urban schools.

Lessons from Our Interns

When asked about their experiences, interns shared these heartfelt insights:

  • "I learned where I'm at with ministry, my strengths and weaknesses. I know that ministry is truly where I belong. I also learned that maybe I do also have a place within a school, a thought I normally cast aside. Knowing that I can work with children is really encouraging."

  • "I learned how to be comfortable jumping in where needed. Asking staff reflective questions about themselves and families opens up conversation."

Their experiences showcase how this program not only transforms interns but also impacts the schools and communities they serve.

Equipping the Next Generation of Ministry Leaders

Each summer, A City for God’s staff grows alongside our interns, learning and coaching as they guide the next generation of ministry leaders. This program is made possible by the generous financial support of individuals like you, who invest in the future of faith-based leadership.

The Vision for Growth

Our vision is to double the number of chaplain interns next year. Achieving this goal requires both passionate candidates and the financial resources to cover their stipends. Your support can make this vision a reality.

Consider making a monthly gift or increasing your current contributions to help us expand this impactful program. If you’d like to give a directed gift to the intern program, please contact Tamisha Clark at 916-385-3373 or TClark@ACityForGod.org.

Together, We’re Building a Stronger Future

This summer, our chaplain interns answered God’s call, sharing His word with hundreds and growing in their personal and professional faith journeys. With your continued support, we can equip even more individuals for ministry and further strengthen our impact on urban schools and communities.

Help us train the next generation of ministry leaders. Join us in this mission today.
