Empowering Christ's Ambassadors - WELS affiliated organizations
A City for God is a WELS-affiliated organization. This means that ACFG and all its staff believe, profess, and teach the same doctrines from this Lutheran perspective. Being affiliated with the WELS also means that we have the opportunity to receive services and support from other WELS organizations and congregations. One such organization is Christian Family Solutions . This WELS-affiliated organization provides counseling care and support in many ways. ACFG would like to m

Empowering Christ's Ambassadors - Community Consultants
A City for God has been incredibly blessed by the skills and insights of several consulting teams over the years. Over the past 12 months, ACFG has benefited from the work of one consultant in particular, whom we would like to highlight. Jesse Hieb is a passionate man who loves the Lord and helps people share how they have seen the Holy Spirit at work in their lives through high-quality videos. Watch the video to hear why Jesse believes this is so important. Jesse has also l

Empowering Christ's Ambassadors - Partnership with CfUT
As we enter the final full week of our gratitude campaign, we will focus on stories that show how working with other organizations and individuals empowers ACFG to be Christ's Ambassadors. One such partnership dates back to the early years of ACFG, when we were known just as Chaplains in Schools. This partnership began with The Center for Urban Teaching (CfUT) when the need for additional spiritual support for its summer school program was identified. Since then, ACFG and Cf

Supporting Christ's Ambassadors - Administration and Financial Operations
Cheryl Krogmann holds several titles with ACFG and is an integral member of our support staff. She is the "behind-the-scenes" hero, ensuring our everyday operations run smoothly so the chaplains can focus on their ministry. We lovingly refer to her as the "mom" of the group. She also answers to "chaos coordinator." Without her diligent work, we would be at a loss! "Through my role as our organization’s Director of Administration, I quietly serve behind the scenes to keep the

Supporting Christ's Ambassadors - Grant Writing
Bethany Winkel plays a key role in supporting our work as Christ's Ambassadors. "As a grant writer, I work behind the scenes to help secure funds to sustain programming at A City for God. I share the message about the work our Chaplains are doing and the need for ongoing financial support from area foundations. I work closely with Pastor Steinberg to write grant proposals and also help him stay connected with our supporting foundations . Through this work, I help ensure Chr

Continuing Education - Equipping Christ's Ambassadors
"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young...continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of." These words of encouragement from the Apostle Paul to Timothy also hold true for some of our team members. Zach Kopplin (center left) and James Carter (far right) are both young men who are enthusiastic about serving as Christ's Ambassadors in Milwaukee, their hometown. To hear firsthand what it means to both Zach and James to be serving in their homet

Chaplaincy Courses - Aaron's path to continuing education
Having our chaplains enrolled in a variety of continuing education courses is one of the main ways we equip them to serve as Christ's Ambassadors. Chaplain Aaron Schultz is another example of the unique way God leads his ambassadors to serve at A City for God. He has received excellent training and instruction in the past. Now he desires to better equip himself in the specific role of chaplaincy. One way he can do this is by enrolling in the chaplaincy certificate program th

Equipping Christ's Ambassadors - Continuing Education
For our chaplains to serve at their best, it is vital that they continue in their training and education. There are many ways this can take place. Last week, we shared about JUMP. This week, we will take a look at a few other options. Chaplains Sarah Enstad and Mike Tracy are both enrolled in the Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) through Martin Luther College. Watch the video to hear from them about how this program is equipping them to serve as Christ's Ambassado

Dufort's Story: Training Christ's Ambassadors -JUMP
Dufort (JHOO-foe) is new to America but is no stranger to A City for God and the ministry we do. As Pastor Paul Steinberg, Executive Director of ACFG, likes to say, "Dufort is one of my bonus sons." You see, Dufort grew up on the island of Haiti. His younger siblings Mackenson and Mackencia were adopted by the Steinbergs in 2006. Fast forward to 2024 when Dufort was able to come to the States, reuniting with his siblings and the Steinberg family. Soon after, he began working

Nick's Story - Training Christ's Ambassadors: JUMP
Chaplain Nick Montgomery may be young to some, but his wisdom goes beyond his years. Nick's training as one of Christ's ambassadors alongside A City for God began when he was just 18 years old. He served as a summer school chaplain intern. From there, he continued his training and service with ACFG by becoming a full-time chaplain serving at two of our partner schools - HOPE Christian Schools and UP Academy. He now spends a large amount of his time ministering to the neighbor

Training Christ's Ambassadors - JUMP Program
A City for God is passionate about Training Christ's Ambassadors . One main way this is accomplished is through the Joshua Urban Ministry Program (JUMP), which provides men of color in Milwaukee pastoral training from WELS seminary professors and pastors. It is the goal of ACFG to provide this training at no cost to those enrolled. However, to get someone through this program takes roughly 6 years at a total cost of about $20,000 . Your support of ACFG makes it possible to tr

ACFG Newsletter - November 2025
Recognizing the Holy Spirit’s Influence Earlier this fall the ACFG team went through a training seminar to help strengthen our “spiritual radar.” The purpose of this seminar was twofold - to help us identify experiences we have in our ministry where we see the Holy Spirit at work and then to develop that experience into a story worth sharing. It is our greatest joy to have God use us in his kingdom and we want to share what he is doing! Over the course of the next few months
